What the map shows

The pins on the Map, what their colours mean, and the buttons around them.

Pins

Tap Map in the row of tabs. The map shows your community's posts:

A pin shows the post's category picture. Where many pins are close together, they join into a circle with a number. Events join the same circles as Offers and Needs, and the number counts them too. The circle is blue on the phone and dark grey in the web app.

People and groups are not on the map. In the web app, an enterprise that has set a place shows as a square pin with its picture. Tap it to open the enterprise.

Polls are not on the map either. The one exception is on the phone, in the global community, where a poll can show as a pin at its poster's area. It looks like an orange Need pin, and shows only under All.

Tapping a pin

Tapping a circle

A tap on a circle zooms in until its pins part. The zoom stops with a few streets still in view, so you are never left too deep to find the other pins.

If the pins are on one spot, or too close together for that zoom to part them, the tap opens a list instead, with how many are there at the top. On the phone that means within about 30 metres, and about 40 metres in the web app. Events come first, soonest at the top, then Offers and Needs, newest first. The list shows only what the filters show.

Tap a row to open that post. The list takes the bottom third of the map, with the circle still in view above it. Tap ✕ or the map to close it.

You don't have to tap. If you zoom in as far as a tap would take you and a circle that can't part is near the middle of the map, its list opens by itself once the map stops moving. It closes by itself when you zoom out or move the circle away. If you closed it, it stays closed until you have moved away from that spot. A card left open from a pin that is no longer in view closes to make way for the list. A card from a pin you can still see stays.

Filters

The phone and the web app have the same filters, at the top of the map:

The dashed line shows the area your community serves.

Adding a post from the map

Tap + ADD POST. In the web app, tap the round + at the bottom right. See "Posting an Offer or a Need".

The same guide is in the BeanPool app, and works there without a connection: open Settings, then "Help & how it works" under BeanPool. Every other rule, guide and manual is in the Help Centre. Guide version 165.
