Where your pin goes

Who sees where your posts and events are, and how to keep your home private.

You choose the spot

Every Offer and Need has a place on the map. You choose it when you post:

Anyone who opens your community's map can see the pin at that spot, to within about 10 metres. That includes people who have not joined. The app does not blur it for you.

If you post from home and do not want people to know your address, use Drop a pin and put it somewhere nearby instead: a corner, a park, the shops. You can tell the other person the exact place in a message once you have agreed.

You cannot move the pin later. To change it, delete the post and post it again.

Events

When you create an event, place the pin first, then tap Approximate (~100 m). The pin then shows only roughly where it is. If you move the pin afterwards, tap it again.

Everyone can see the event's place name, so do not type your home address there. Put the exact address in Note for people who are going, which only the hosts and the people who tap Going can read.

What is never shown

The same guide is in the BeanPool app, and works there without a connection: open Settings, then "Help & how it works" under BeanPool. Guide version 6.
