BeanPool for Android, as a download

For Android phones without Google Play, or where Google Play is hard to reach. Most people should use Google Play.

This is the same app as on Google Play, signed by the same key. It installs over the BeanPool already on your phone, whether that came from Google Play or from here, and keeps your account.

Download

Download BeanPool 1.2.83

Version 1.2.83, a file of 166 MB: use Wi-Fi if you can. It comes from BeanPool's releases on GitHub.

Install it

  1. Open the file once it has downloaded: tap it in the notification, or find it in your phone's Downloads.
  2. The first time, Android asks you to let your browser install apps. Allow it in the settings that open, then go back.
  3. Confirm the install. If BeanPool is already on your phone, Android calls it an update. Then open BeanPool.

If Android says the app was not installed because it conflicts with the one on your phone, look at your BeanPool's version: in your phone's settings, under Apps, then BeanPool. Version 1.2.83 or newer needs nothing from here: keep it. An older one was signed with a different key, such as a test copy. In that case, write down your 12 words (see below), uninstall BeanPool, and install this file. Open BeanPool, tap Already a Member? Restore Account, then Recover with 12 Words.

Updates

An app downloaded here does not update itself. BeanPool tells you when a newer version is out: come back to this page, download it, and install it over the one you have. Your account and everything in the app stay.

Keep your 12 words safe

Your account is a key kept in the app on your phone. Uninstalling BeanPool takes your account off the phone, so install over it. Uninstall only when the BeanPool on your phone is older and signed with a different key (see above), and only with your 12 words written down. Your 12 words bring your account back on a new phone, or on this one. In the app, they are in Settings, under Account & Identity, at View Recovery Phrase. Write them down and keep them safe.

Check that it is ours

This file is signed with the same key as BeanPool on Google Play. The SHA-256 fingerprint of its certificate is:

46:AA:D0:CB:A8:9D:1F:E7:EF:F0:60:99:77:CE:06:5D:85:DD:7E:AC:13:57:D4:48:97:EC:70:AF:B2:02:6C:81

On a computer with Android's build tools, run:

apksigner verify --print-certs BeanPool-1.2.83-305.apk

It should print the same fingerprint, written the way apksigner writes it:

Signer #1 certificate SHA-256 digest: 46aad0cba89d1fe7eff0609977ce065d85dd7eac1357d44897ec70afb2026c81

Android installs an update only when it is signed with the same key, so a file signed with any other key cannot replace your BeanPool.

The SHA-256 of the file itself:

ef6112f14891ad653e7ad0d06cc0aa061fa5a97907c84b9055cfdd6229c06089
