Members' guide · Getting started
Your profile
Your name, photo, a few words about you, and who can see your contact details.
Change your name, photo or bio
- Open Settings with the sliders button at the top of the screen.
- On your card at the top, tap Edit, or tap your photo.
- Change what you like:
- Callsign is the name people see.
- Bio is a few words about you, up to 200 characters.
- Tap the photo to change it.
- Tap Save Profile.
You can also tap Re-run Setup in Settings. It walks you through your name and photo again, and the short tour of how BeanPool works.
A name and a photo come first
You need a name and a photo before you can post or accept a trade. If one is missing, the app says Finish your profile first. Tap Set up profile to add it.
Contact details
Under Contact details you can add a phone number, an email or a WhatsApp number. You do not have to.
Once you add one, choose Who can see this?:
- Hidden: nobody.
- Trade Partners: meant for people you trade with. For now it works like Community: every member can see it. To keep it private, choose Hidden or Friends.
- Friends: people you have added as friends.
- Community: every member of your community.
Today the web app can show your contact details on your posts. The phone app does not show other members' contact details yet.
What others see
Tap the round picture at the top right of the screen to see your own profile. Other members see much the same:
- your name, when you joined and your bio;
- your trust badge, how many trades you have done, with how many people, and how many you finished;
- star ratings and reviews from people you traded with;
- your posts.
Your working style
On your profile there is a short, optional quiz, Take 60s Quiz. It describes how you like to work with others. On someone else's profile it shows how well your styles fit. It changes nothing else.
